Leaning In To AI: How AI Will Uniquely Impact Women in the Workplace
Hello everyone,
This is Dr. Patrick Dicks, and I want to have a heart-to-heart with women out there. Today, I want to talk specifically to you about something that's going to affect us like never before, the impact of artificial intelligence on your careers.
Why Women Will Be Uniquely Impacted:
I've crunched the numbers, and it's crucial for us to realize that artificial intelligence is going to hit women and minorities differently. The big question you need to ask yourself right now is whether you're in the right field. Because, let me be blunt, if you're not in the right field, job security is going to be a serious concern.
Connecting Sheryl Sandberg's Step Down from Facebook:
Speaking of impactful career changes, the recent news of Sheryl Sandberg stepping down as COO from Facebook, as reported by The Washington Post, adds a new dimension to our discussion. Sandberg, who played a key role in turning Facebook into one of the most profitable digital-advertising businesses globally, left during a challenging financial period marked by layoffs and revenue losses. This shift signifies a transformation in Meta's direction, focusing on generative artificial intelligence and virtual-reality-powered services.
Preparing for What's Coming:
Artificial intelligence is creating jobs, no doubt about it. But here's the catch, you can only snag one of those jobs if you have the right skills. When I say skills, I mean STEM skills (engineering, biology, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, etc.). If you're not in these fields or a healthcare role, you need to seriously consider your options.
Why Women Face Unique Challenges:
Let's be real about why women are going to feel this impact. A lot of women are in administrative, analytics, financial analysis, business analysis, HR, recruiting jobs that AI can potentially take over. Don't believe me? Research how AI is eliminating the need for various administrative and business roles in companies and organizations.
Looking Ahead: Helping Each Other:
Ladies, it's time to get real about your future. Share this with your friends, your family, and anyone who needs to hear it. It doesn't matter your nationality, all women are going to feel the impact. To the other groups, minorities are feeling it now, but it's coming to you too.
Best regards,
Dr. Patrick Dicks
